Notices: Term 1, Week 5

 Kia Ora Whanau!

Your tamariki are amazing!  We are really enjoying them, their big smiles and eagerness to learn.

Our Class Blog

Meet the Teacher

Thank you to those of you who could make it.  It was nice to see so many of your faces here.  If you were unable to make it please be assured as long as you check our emails you will always be up to date.

Tired Tamariki

We are approaching mid term and our wee people are tired.  School is like a working day for them when you add in after school activities and late nights to bed, we end up with tired and teary tamariki at school. We just want you to be aware of the impact this has on their learning and where possible lots of rest over the weekend is a good thing.

Party Playlist

Here is the crews fave eclectic songs for you to crank at your leisure - enjoy!

T1 & T2 Party Playlist

Safe Walking

On Monday and Tuesday T1 and  T2 will be doing our safe walking programme. This teaches the children how to cross roads safely and be aware of possible dangers when walking around Arrowtown.  We will need two parent volunteers from each class to walk with us. This will be on a first come, first serve basis. If you are free and willing to give up part of your morning to spend with T1 or T2, please send us an email.

T1-  Monday 9:45-10:30

T2- Tuesday 11:00-11:45

 Kia Ora Whanau!

Our first full week!  The Tamariki are fully getting into the swing of things now.  We had a blast at the river trip yesterday, T2 smashed assembly today and we are really enjoying growing together as a team.

A reminder that starting and coming back to school is a massive deal and can take some adjustment for our little ones.  If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact us.

A reminder from us to please read our emails.  We spend time each week putting this together to provide you with all your need to knows for the following week.  If you know of someone that is not receiving the emails please refer them to our blog as we will post them on there as well.  See below for blog...

Our Class Blog

Meet the Teacher

This is to be held on Wednesday 24th at 5pm.  We welcome you to join us in T2. as we will go over our programme and answer your questions together.

Music Programme

The Tamariki are starting an awesome new music programme next week.  Kathleen Brentwood will be running this and we are very excited to have her expertise.

Athletics

Each Friday we are training for our Athletics Day.  Please make sure your child has appropriate and comfortable clothing to run, jump and move.

Library Day

Our Library Day Wednesday.  Please send along your child’s books that day if they would like to issue new ones.

Class Treaty - (Still needing a few sent in please)

Thank you to the Whanau that have sent their statement for our class treaty.  We want our treaty to reflect not only the Tamariki in our learning space but the Whanau behind them.  Please send your statement via email to us e.g.

The Wood Whanau - We wish for this learning space to be inclusive and kind.

The Waters Whanau - We wish for the learning space to be a place where the tamariki know mistakes are part of learning and to keep trying.

Next time you are in T1 and T2 please grab a sharpie and sign the treaty alongside your child.

Homework

  1. A reading log - This is where you record your child’s reading each night.  We will give the tamariki a sticker for each night they read.  When they reach 25 nights etc please pop the sticker on with them at home.

  2. A high frequency word card - We have sat with each of the tamariki and checked which words they do and don’t know.  Each night spend some time revising the words your child knows as well as honing in on a few new ones.  We will give your child a sticker by the words they know when they know them.

  3. A reading book - Reading starts this week so your child will bring home a book each night.  We ask that all books are read over and over for fluency and come back to school each Monday.

Please send the above backwards and forwards from school each day in your child’s bookbag.

Oral Language/News

Please see below for this week's topic as well as the Tamariki’s News Day.

Term One Oral Language/News Topics

Week 4 - Music - What music do you and your whanau listen to?  Send us a link for your favourite song.  We will compile a T1 & T2 party playlist - get excited!
