Notices: Term 4, Week 8

 Kia Ora Whanau!

This week has flown by! It’s hard to believe we only have 2 weeks left with our crew.

It’s been such an odd year having Whanau unable to be on school grounds and popping into the classroom but you can rest assured it has been business as usual here at school.  We have had an incredibly busy and rewarding school year.

Cross Country

The Cross Country was amazing!  We have commented lots over the last few weeks that we had never had such a fit class heading into it and that the training was really paying off.  We were also saddened to realise that the fitness does not transfer by just being around these fine athletes.  We were really proud of the team, it was a super hot day but everyone  got stuck in and got the job done.

Congratulations to our place getters…

Tangaroa Art Exhibition

Thank you to the Whanau that took the time to come and have a look at the Tangaroa Exhibition.  The Tamariki are so proud of their efforts as are we.  We appreciate the support you have shown the team.  For those of you that were unable to make it we have popped a small vid on HERO do give you an idea of how epic it truly was and the Tamariki will be bringing their Portfoilos home next week.

Christmas in the Playground

We are still required to operate school using the Level 2 Guidelines of the COVID19 Alert Level system. Iona Holsted, Secretary for Education (NZ), has said “Schools will retain their existing COVID-19 settings until the end of the 2021 calendar year. The COVID-19 Protection Framework settings will come into effect for all schools from 1 January 2022.”

Because of the physical distancing requirements, and with the number of children we have, both the Junior teams Christmas in the Playground will only operate with the staff and students attending.  Privacy guidelines make a live streaming option difficult, however we will endeavour to provide some short videos and photos through HERO.

We thank you for your understanding.

Junior School Get Together

Due to Christmas in the Playground not running as normal we will now be holding a gathering during school hours where the Junior Tamariki perform and with Senior Tamariki are our audience.  This will be held on Wednesday 15th December.

To help bring the Christmas Spirit we will still be dressing up so please see below for your child's theme.

Room 1 - Angels and Elves

Room 2 - Rudolphs/Reindeers

Once your child has a costume sorted please send along in a named bag so we are ready to roll.

Christmas Tree

We have put up the class Christmas Tree but it looks depressed and we just can’t have that.  The Tamariki are welcome to make a home made decoration to go on our tree.  This is completely optional but our tree would welcome some colour and fun.

Meet the Teacher

The Tamariki will be given the opportunity to meet their new Kaiako (Teacher) and class in Week 9.  This will correspond with the class list and stationary list for 2022 being shared with you the Whanau.

Level 2 Key Messages

Thank you for helping us keep the number of people on site down and manage the Level 2 restrictions that we are having to follow. These are in place for the health and wellbeing of your child(ren) and wider community.

If you do need to come on site please wear a face covering, scan the QR code, then go to the office and discuss your reason for coming in.

Drop Off and Pick Up

If you need to bring your child(ren) to school please “drop off and pick up” at one of the school entrances or a short walk away from school.

If you need to use the Centennial Ave entrance be ready to drop off your child, before you leave home. This is so when you pull up at the drop off area,  parents should please remain in your car.

If you need to pick up your child, please wait at one of the school entrances or on the paved area outside the Hall. Make sure your child knows where you will meet them.
