Notices Term 2, Week 5

 Kia Ora Whanau!

It’s been a cold week! We had some of our Tamariki arrive to school without socks and jackets on some of the coldest days yet.  Please make sure your child has what they need to keep them warm and comfortable as we do spend parts of our day outside and a warm child is a happy child.

Readers - Please Note

We do not always read a new book/reader with your child each day.  Sometimes we revisit the same text to explore it more in depth.  Reading is not about plowing through a book from start to finish. There are many new strategies that need to be learnt and practiced as well as gaining fluency and expression.  If you would like to help your child at home please see the latest HERO post on your child’s page.

Teacher Only Day

Friday 4th of June is a Teacher Only Day.  School is open only to teachers.

Queens Birthday

Monday 7th of June is Queen's Birthday.  School is closed.

Luma Lights

This is to be held on June 4-7th.

If your schedule allows please do take your child down as T1 and T2 created some beautiful installations to contribute to this.  Please see the link below for more details.

The New Build

We are edging closer to moving into the new space.  The Junior Team Teachers had their first walk through this week and we got pretty excited about what is to come.  The aim is to be all moved in by the start of Term 3.  We will be sending out an email closer to the holidays as we will be looking for bits and pieces you may have at home to help us make the space epic.

Parent/Teacher Connects

Very shortly you will be able to book a time to meet with both of us to connect and catch up regarding your child’s development and progress at school.  We have set aside days in both weeks 9 and 10.  These interview times will be for 15 minutes.

Please note: If you have questions or concerns we are always available to meet at another time.

 Kia Ora Whanau

Today Arrowtown celebrated ‘Pink Shirt Day’ . The focus is not just on anti-bullying but more on being a kind and inclusive person in this world and someone who celebrates diversity.

We talk about this very thing a lot in T1 and T2 but it was awesome to spend a day on it.

Oral Language has been a hoot this week! The Tamariki have really taken ownership over their news and we have loved the variety of new skills we’ve learnt from them.

Thank you for your support at Junior Assembly this morning.  Our Tamariki love their moment in the spotlight and it's extra special when Whanau are there to watch.
