Kia Ora Whanau
We have had a lovely first week at school. It has been awesome reconnecting and hearing all about our tamariki’s Easter holiday. We have noticed that the team are very tired. Many adults are commenting on how they are suffering from what is known as ‘Long Covid’. We wonder if the affects are the same for our little people and they don’t have the words to share that. We are mindful of this fact and are supporting them back into school.
Something we have been talking a lot about this week has been the care and use of classroom and school equipment. We have had to stop many times during the week to discuss something that might be damaged or broken completely. This has varied from losing a skipping rope, pulling labels off walls, drawing on the floor to the breaking of headphones. We appreciate any conversations you have at home in support of this.
Speaking of Equipment
If any small toys, equipment or belongings come home in your child’s school bag and they don’t belong to your child please send them back to school. We have had little bits and pieces disappearing and we would quite like them returned. Thank you!
WELCOME TO SCHOOL!
This week we welcomed Tommy Gibbons and his whanau to Room 1&2. Next week Rae North and her whanau join us. We look forward to working alongside you all to give Tommy and Rae an awesome start here at Arrowtown School.
Farewell
Next week we farewell Jordan Short and her whanau as they move to Australia. We have loved getting to know this awesome family and they will be missed. New Zealands loss is very much Australias gain.
We will be having a special farewell for Jordan and she has requested a Pajama day. It would be suer if everyone could come dressed in their PJs, dressing gowns and slippers.
Mothers Day
We would like to wish our Mothers, Grandmothers, Aunts and the amazing woman that love, support and raise our little people. Without our Mums the world would stop.
Enjoy your Sunday which hopefully sees you with a sleep in, a coffee in bed but most of all a cuddle. We hope you enjoy the special treat that your child worked very hard to make for you here at school.
Maternity Leave and a New Kaiako
Sarah’s last day will be on Friday 27th of May. She will be begin her maternity leave from the following week. We are happy to report that we have found her replacement. Jessie Lynn will begin in Rooms 1&2 from next week getting to know the tamariki, the kaiako, the systems and routines so we can make the transition for our tamariki as smooth as possible.
Parent Connects
It has been awesome to catch up with some of our awesome Whanau this week. It’s always great to hear your perspectives and work together to give our tamariki the best possible start to their schooling. We appreciate your support.
